The very mention of the name ‘Morocco’ is enough to fire the imagination about all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all places exotic and exciting…Morocco has held a fascination for the traveler since the days when the olive-skinned hordes of Berber merchants decided to make this country on the northern African coast their home for all time to come.

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit Morocco weather-wise would be during the spring season in the months of April and May and autumn season in the months of September and October.

The weather remains pleasant during this time and it is an amazing experience to explore the country during this time of the year.

Many tourists also take a trip to Morocco during the months of July and August, making it a bit crowded so if you are travelling during this period make sure to book your hotel in advance.

If you are fond of skiing, fix your itinerary between the months of December and March, as this is the peak skiing season here. Morocco is best for trekking during the months of April and September.

Climate:

The sheer variety of Morocco’s landscape means that there are vastly different climate zones. In the mountains, especially the High Atlas range, winter temperatures can go well below freezing, and suitable clothing is advised.

The coastal regions in the north have warm summers and mild, extremely pleasant winters. The lowlands and the south of the country record daytime summer temperatures as high as 45ºC.

The main rainy season runs from November to April. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are the best times to visit Morocco.

Things to carry:

Bring along warm clothes if you are coming in winter, especially if you plan to visit the mountains.

This is also the time when unexpected showers occur; so do not forget to pack your umbrella or raincoat.

Also carry your medicine kit along with you. It is also advisable to carry an insect repellent if you are planning to take part in some adventure activities.

If you are travelling during the summer months, carry enough precautionary measure as you might fall prey to heatstroke.

To avoid getting sunburn, carry sunscreen, sun block lotions and an umbrella.

While packing summer clothing, keep in mind that Morocco being a conservative nation does not encourage wearing revealing clothes especially by women.

Also do not forget to add a comfortable pair of sneakers or hiking shoes, you will need it to take part in the outdoor activities.

 Bring along a digital camera, to capture the natural beauty engulfing you.

Air

Morocco is well connected through airways and there are flights connecting Morocco with Europe, Africa, India, Middle East amongst other regions.

The international airports are in Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir and Marrakech. Paris is well connected to Moroccan destinations like Fes, Marrakesh and Oudja. There are weekly flights from Algeria to Morocco.
